Just a quick update here, folks. It seems my nemesis, one Steven Tyler, has hit the absolute bottom of the barrel and is now doing super shitty Burger King commercials. Burger King prides itself on producing increasingly sexist and disturbing ad campaigns aimed at the slacker male 14-35 demographic, so Tylers' involvement is no surprise to me. But, seriously Burger King, if you really wanna sell food to people, don't make me look at the twisted, puppet like wrinkled visage of this old, tired, child-molesting rapist. It turns the stomach just as badly as most of your other ads. I would sooner eat my own intestines out of my body then give one dime to Burger King, but involving Tyler just makes me wanna wretch. Don't give these fuckers your money. They hate women. They hate women more than most other fast food chains do. Fuck Burger King and Fuck Steven Tyler. I'm gonna go eat some delicious raw vegan ice cream just to wash the taste of this horror outta my mouth. See you all soon!

A Mans' Prison, A Womans' World
Trigger Warning: Rape discussion, street harassment
This is the post I was going to make last week. It seems kind of odd to go back to it now, because it was so fresh in my mind then, but I hope it's still poignant. It's about an observation my partner and I made while watching a movie that really got me thinking.
The other night, my partner and I watched a film titled I Love You Phillip Morris. Now, before I get into this, let me first say that we both didn't enjoy the film, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone as safe viewing. I'll link to the IMDB content advisory for those that are interested, but be advised that it does not list all of the potentially problematic scenes. Jim Carrey, is as per usual, a plastic-faced ass unable to convey any convincing emotion. His performance is made worse due to being cast opposite Ewan McGregor, who manages to outshine Carrey in every scene, showing emotion and vulnerability. This movie is supposed to be at it's core a love story, about the love of two men. However, it was written by a bunch of (I assume) straight dudes, who can only portray a homosexual relationship in heterosexual dominant/submissive terms. Carreys' character is unfeeling, brash, manipulative and is the top in every interaction, while McGregors' is effeminate, almost to the point of parody. While I could go on about how insulting this movie is to potential gay male viewers and how it is neither "romantic" nor "comedy", that's not the point of this post.
There's a scene, early in the movie, I guess, where Carreys' character is arrested and sent to jail. Once inside, he takes the "long walk" to his cell. This scene is shot from his perspective and as he walks along, the gruff male inmates on either side of him leer at him, look him up and down, assess him. My partner turned to me at this point and said "Dudes are scary."
How could I not agree?
She said that particular scene demonstrated how she, and countless other women I have no doubt, feel every time they walk down the street in the presence of men. And it is this metaphor perhaps, that would be more effective than any other in making straight douchebros understand the terror and danger that women face in todays' society. The leers. The jeers. The up-and-downs. The assessments. The catcalls. The very real threat of violence, of rape, of murder from any or all of these men, simply because you are currently in their line of sight. Every straight dude inherently fears prison. There's enough media out there showing graphic, violent male-on-male prison rape that it's been drilled into everyones' head like an equation: Go to prison = get raped.
Is this the case in reality? I'm not sure. Somehow Googling stats on "prison rape" makes me nervous about what the search might turn up. But, that's not the point. The point is, that nary a straight, white, heterosexual male makes the connection between the "long walk" scene that is repeated ad nausea in so much of his media and the street harassment he sees and most likely takes part in every day. If you're not familiar with the term street harassment, then this might be a good place to learn about it. Whatever you call it, one must remember that it doesn't take place exclusively in the streets. It happens on the bus or the train, at the office or the supermarket, the gym or the laundromat. There are men who make women uncomfortable at best in public places to announce their superiority and their belief in womens' subjugation, and they are everywhere. The "long walk" scene is a scene that most women have to play out several times every goddamn day.
Street harassment in any and all of its' forms makes women feel afraid of going out in public, which is what a patriarchy desires more than almost anything else. It's an insidious form of control, to keep women scared and in the home, becoming the property of their men, unable to leave autonomously or without escort for fear of rape or battery or death or some horrible combination of all three. This is the state of affairs that the white, "liberal" male ally will find intolerable and unjust in places like Saudi Arabia, while ignoring that much the same happens to women here in the "civilized western world" on a daily basis.
If you're reading this and you think I'm full of shit, think about it for a second. Think about a "long walk" prison scene you've watched. Now think about what if it was you taking that walk. Now, think about what if you had to take that walk several times every day, but the guards aren't there to pull the prisoners off you if they attack, and the prisoners aren't wearing uniforms so you can easily identify them and they can act in groups and perhaps they're your boss, or your landlord or your roommate. Think about it, all day every day, being looked at, being sized up, being undressed, being five seconds away from being potentially raped at all times. How would it feel? Would you feel scared? Hopeless? Helpless? Depressed? Suicidal? Do you think you know anyone else that feels that way? Have you ever made anyone else feel that way? And, if you have, will you acknowledge it and change your behavior? Because no one deserves to live in that kind of world. No one deserves to take the "long walk" over and over again, especially when they've committed no crime, save for not being a man in the patriarchy.
If the whole world is ones' prison, does one dream of escape? Where does one escape to? It is my sincerest wish that one day everyone is able to walk the streets without fear and without being harassed. Until such day though, ask the dudes you know if they're familiar with the "long walk" scene. Then ask them how they'd feel. Hopefully one of them gets it.

Time For The Controversial 'Canadian' Post
I hate hockey. I really fucking do. I hate it so much. I hope the Stanley Cup never makes it back to Canadian soil. I hate the fact that I even know what the Stanley Cup is. I hate how much attention these spoiled-brat players get when there are important issues people should be caring about. I hate how much money they make when women's shelters are without beds and Planned Parenthood is defunded. And I hate how these murderous rapist-batterer asshole sports figures get away with murder and rape and battery. And I really hate that the majority of sports fans will defend their idols, blame the victims and generally act like a rape and battery apologia army. The ones who emulate the behavior of their heroes are the absolute worst.
I know it's a fact that domestic abuse rates rise during sports finals. And since I can't seem to get any real Canadian news since the hockey finals won't ever fucking finish, I thought I'd write about that. So, I went a-looking for information. Here's the first piece I found about it. If you want, I'll save you the trouble. It's a fairly minimizing piece that completely ignores the human aspect of abuse victims, merely focusing on what factors may make men beat their wives if their teams loses. But only if they weren't expecting their team to lose, apparently. Whatever. And while the article claims to be about hockey-related violence, the information is culled from a study on football. I know, tomato - tomahto, but still. I was looking for something that really illustrates how shitty our national passtime is for women.
The next piece I found was slightly better, but still leaves me wanting for some really radical analysis. The author still 'loves hockey', just wishes it wasn't so darn sexist and that ladies could be allowed to play professionally and oh, if you guys could stop that abuse stuff, that'd be grand. My question now seems to be, why are people so afraid to slam sports? I fucking hate sports, all professional sports. They're gross. But especially, ESPECIALLY hockey. It's such a brainwashing, nationalistic tool used to enslave the weak-minded, like Tim Hortons and whatever else we're "supposed" to be proud of as Canadians, I dunno... the fact that we love cold weather, even though everybody fucking complains about it?
The fact is that the information is made difficult to find, and I believe that's on purpose. Here's a study from fucking 2006 on football again, if you can wade through all the pages to find what you're looking for. It seems to be common knowledge that domestic abuse rates rise during sporting playoffs, but finding the actual numbers to prove that is nigh-impossible. This can't be a coincidence. I believe that there are deliberate cover-ups going on. Since the common knowledge can't be erased, the actual statistics are being hidden from the public. People know, but they're not allowed to know, to know in such a way that action can be taken. Men wouldn't want that, not their precious 'big games', their playoffs and finals and whatnot. All that can be found are vague connections to football losses equaling increases in domestic violence. Hockey, however seems to be protected at a degree much higher.
But, I remember this, even if the Canadian news sites don't. Every link I could find to this story was from an American source. What does that say to you, when a man kills his wife because she was asking him to come to bed during the hockey game, then burns their house down to cover it up and the Canadian media buries the fucking story? It says to me that our 'national passtime', our precious little game is worth more than a woman's life. Hockey is more important than human life in the eyes of our media. That is disgusting. Hockey is revered, granted an immunity in this country that nothing deserves. Hockey, it's fans and players and executives should be held accountable for every injustice, every incidence of rape and violence, every death that they've caused. The United States can keep the damn cup. I'll take social reform, if it's even fucking possible.
In closing, I hope the Vancouver Canucks choke. Figuratively and literally. I hope hockey can one day be an embarrassing memory in human history. And all you jerks in Vancouver with your painted faces and stupid jerseys? Get a life, read about what's really going on in this country. There's more to life than hockey, if you're interested. Turing off the game might just turn on your humanity, although I'm starting to wonder if hockey fans have any to begin with.

Update! Steven Tyler Is A Piece Of Shit! Part 2!
TW for abortion discussion, victim blaming, pedophilia
I wrote about this a while ago. I can't even convey how much I fucking hate Steven Tyler. While I don't want my ranting about how much of a pedophile fuck he is to take center stage around here, I thought I would just articulate about how monstrous he was concerning that statutory rape and abortion deal he was "involved" with. The child, Julia Holcomb, that he apparently forced to get pregnant has grown up and is sharing her side of the story, found here among other places.
The facts are chilling. This girl had an obviously traumatic childhood. Her mother signed away legal guardianship to Tyler, so that he could take her cross-country with him on his tours. Her birth control was taken away, indeed thrown out a window, to ensure that pregnancy would occur. Forced impregnation is one of the crimes most heinous perpetrated against women. It binds women, both financially and with obligation to care for the new life to the oppressive man who impregnates them. It silences them under the weight of increased duty and responsibility which the man, having done his "duty" will not share. It is a psychological weapon wielded by men and even if abortion is "allowed" to the woman, the damage is done. She did not choose this pregnancy. Whether or not she chose the abortion is now by and large irrelevant.
After a house fire, in which Holcomb was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, Tyler then pressured her into the abortion. While he states he was worried about the safety of the child, due to the smoke inhalation, I surmise he was worried about his career and lifestyle, thinking that it would be harder to rape otherwomen children, if he had a wife and child on tour with him. After offering no support when Holcomb stated she wanted to keep the child and continuing to pester her about aborting it, she reluctantly agreed. Tyler DID stay around for the procedure. He just spent the time snorting rails on the bedside table. He was nice enough to offer one to Holcomb. As he left he told her "the baby had been born alive and allowed to die.". That kind of information can only serve to mentally scar the parents of the aborted child, so why would it be released at all? I think that Tyler made this up, told Holcomb that story to hurt her further, put the blame that his child was aborted on her even though he wouldn't have had a hand in raising it and indeed didn't want it. But, it was his offspring, his apparent son, and why should he take any kind of responsibility or feel any guilt? That's not what men do. Men fuck. Women care. That's just how it is in Steven Tyler's rock 'n' roll 'n' rape world. Unfortunately, this is the world that most women are forced to live in, too.
The fact that Steven Tyler was painted as a tragic victim in all of this is the terrible icing on the cake. He was, and is a monster. The facts are there: he raped a minor who was in his care. Whether she was fourteen as he said or sixteen as she said makes no difference, as either way she was still just a child to his twenty-odd years of age. He deprived her of food, water and social contact. He provided her unsafe, unsanitary living conditions, which led to the fire that hospitalized her. He provided her drugs in lieu of proper care. He forced her to get pregnant, then forced her to get an abortion. He then said the most hurtful thing any person could say in that situation. And he's a famous mega-star. People buy his records. People watch him on their televisions. He should be in jail for the rest of his life, and all his assets should be appropriated and distributed to women in need, women facing the same kind of coercion and violence and trauma that he inflicted on Julia Holcomb. When will people take a stand? When will those famous pedophile freaks out there ever be held accountable. Steven Tyler has been on my boycott list for a long time, but I implore all of you to join me on that. Write the producers of American Idol and ask, no demand his departure from the show. Write your local radio stations and demand that they take Aerosmith out of their rotation. Make him poor and forgotten, just as he left Julia Holcomb.

Probably The Worst Thing Ever

Now, no one I know had ever accused Facebook of being good for anything. I used to be on the Facebook, but my profile has been deleted (not simply de-activated, like they'd prefer, what a trial that was) for a long time now. There was always lots of shitty, questionable stuff floating around Facebook, and it was just an all-around ruiner of lives. But this, THIS defies my even my low expectations. Two unnamed young men in B.C. (ages also withheld, but they're in their early fucking twenties) created a sort of pedophiles' bible on Facebook, teaching other would-be rapists the best 'tips 'n' tricks' to trick girls as young as THIRTEEN into having sex with them.Even tips on what to do and say if you get caught by the girls' parents.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Now think about the fact that while the page has been taken down, no criminal charges are being laid against the creators. They made a how-to guide for the budding pedophile, but they're not being charged with anything, and they won't be unless someone out there commits an offense based on the sites' content, which is no longer there for cross-referencing in court, thank you very much. And since these perverts put a disclaimer on their rape-guide and kept in within "legal bounds", whatever the fuck that means, no charges against them were laid, and their names stay withheld. The RCMP is doing absolutely nothing, not even slapping them on the wrist. These pedophiles are getting off with barely a warning. This makes me sick.
And, of course, once again the onus is being put on girls to protect themselves and parents to keep their kids safe. City councillor Deb MacIntosh said it's ultimately the responsibility of parents to inform their children about potential social dangers and to monitor their online activity. Huh. Right. She then goes on to say:
Once again, nothing to men out there about not raping children, not using alcohol and trickery to coerce young women and girls into sex acts, nothing about taking no as an answer and respecting the autonomy of women and girls, nothing about not being a goddamn fucking pedophile piece of shit. Where is the responsibility of men? They get a slap on the wrist and a few cursory remarks about people being "so shocked and ashamed." of this behavior. Oh bullshit. Men love to ignore and traipse around that pesky statutory rape law all the time. There has got to be a study on why pedophilia is not only on the rise, but it's becoming more and more acceptable to mainstream culture. You can bet that pornography is linked to it. There you go scientists, I've already got the ball rolling for you.
Getting back to Facebook for a minute, I think it's about time that the whole site got shut down for a while and re-worked. How many media stories have you heard about the dangers and evils of Facebook? What good has it ever done for anyone? Facebook at best only causes paranoia and heartache in those that use it, and is a tool for sexual predators, rapists and pedophiles at worst, and there's not too many degrees on that spectrum. I'm not saying that all social media is bad, but what the fuck? Somebody has to be policing what goes on and is put up as public content better than what's happening now. This is disgraceful behavior by disgusting human trash. Anyone who writes a rape handbook should be jailed as though they've not only committed the crimes they've written about (which they probably have, why is no one looking into that?), but also because they are inciting others to commit those crimes too, regardless of whether or not anyone is in fact influenced by the material they've written. The potential for influence is there. The means are there. The information is there now, thanks to these perverts. They should rot. Now, no one I know had ever accused Facebook of being good for anything. I used to be on the Facebook, but my profile has been deleted (not simply de-activated, like they'd prefer, what a trial that was) for a long time now. There was always lots of shitty, questionable stuff floating around Facebook, and it was just an all-around ruiner of lives. But this, THIS defies my even my low expectations. Two unnamed young men in B.C. (ages also withheld, but they're in their early fucking twenties) created a sort of pedophiles' bible on Facebook, teaching other would-be rapists the best 'tips 'n' tricks' to trick girls as young as THIRTEEN into having sex with them.Even tips on what to do and say if you get caught by the girls' parents.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Now think about the fact that while the page has been taken down, no criminal charges are being laid against the creators. They made a how-to guide for the budding pedophile, but they're not being charged with anything, and they won't be unless someone out there commits an offense based on the sites' content, which is no longer there for cross-referencing in court, thank you very much. And since these perverts put a disclaimer on their rape-guide and kept in within "legal bounds", whatever the fuck that means, no charges against them were laid, and their names stay withheld. The RCMP is doing absolutely nothing, not even slapping them on the wrist. These pedophiles are getting off with barely a warning. This makes me sick.
And, of course, once again the onus is being put on girls to protect themselves and parents to keep their kids safe. City councillor Deb MacIntosh said it's ultimately the responsibility of parents to inform their children about potential social dangers and to monitor their online activity. Huh. Right. She then goes on to say:
"You don't have to be one of those militant parents who check on everything, but know who they're talking to," she said.
Once again, nothing to men out there about not raping children, not using alcohol and trickery to coerce young women and girls into sex acts, nothing about taking no as an answer and respecting the autonomy of women and girls, nothing about not being a goddamn fucking pedophile piece of shit. Where is the responsibility of men? They get a slap on the wrist and a few cursory remarks about people being "so shocked and ashamed." of this behavior. Oh bullshit. Men love to ignore and traipse around that pesky statutory rape law all the time. There has got to be a study on why pedophilia is not only on the rise, but it's becoming more and more acceptable to mainstream culture. You can bet that pornography is linked to it. There you go scientists, I've already got the ball rolling for you.
Getting back to Facebook for a minute, I think it's about time that the whole site got shut down for a while and re-worked. How many media stories have you heard about the dangers and evils of Facebook? What good has it ever done for anyone? Facebook at best only causes paranoia and heartache in those that use it, and is a tool for sexual predators, rapists and pedophiles at worst, and there's not too many degrees on that spectrum. I'm not saying that all social media is bad, but what the fuck? Somebody has to be policing what goes on and is put up as public content better than what's happening now. This is disgraceful behavior by disgusting human trash. Anyone who writes a rape handbook should be jailed as though they've not only committed the crimes they've written about (which they probably have, why is no one looking into that?), but also because they are inciting others to commit those crimes too, regardless of whether or not anyone is in fact influenced by the material they've written. The potential for influence is there. The means are there. The information is there now, thanks to these perverts. They should rot.
